Te Deum in C-major (Britten)

We just had to celebrate this important Centenary! This Te Deum was written for Maurice Vinden and the Choir of St Mark’s, North Audley Street in London in 1934 shortly after graduating from the Royal College of Music. His output of religious work was quite low and both his music and his attitude to the Christian faith caused some controversy at the time. The choir it was written for was not one of the great choirs of London and the music is not difficult once Britten’s musical idiosyncrasies have been worked out.
